Securing smart cities
Through in-depth panel discussions with leading experts in smart cities, learn about the different constituents of the smart city ecosystem and explore the emerging technologies and cybersecurity solutions needed to develop functioning and secure smart cities.
What’s in it for me as a researcher?
Smart cities are the future of urban living, harnessing the power of three Ds—digital technologies, data, and design thinking—to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of city services. However, this new wave of digital transformation also brings new cyber risks that could fundamentally impact the existence of smart cities. Cyber threats have been on the rise for years, but the last few years have seen an explosion in cyberattacks that target both data and physical
The panel discussion will address the different constituents of the smart city ecosystems, the inherent challenges in developing the ecosystems and pragmatic solutions to overcome the key issues and challenges. The panel will also explore the various technological layers needed to develop functioning smart cities, and the solutions for implementing security walls around smart cities.
You will get the opportunity to meet with smart cities experts, hear their views on the secure smart city ecosystem, and ask the questions that keep you awake at night.
How does it look?
A smart city is a complex ecosystem of municipal services, public and private entities, people, processes, devices, and city infrastructure that constantly interact with each other. Smart cities involve a massive amount of data exchanges, integration between disparate IoT devices, and dynamically changing processes which creates new cyber threats, compounded by complexities in the other components of the ecosystem that wrap around the technology infrastructure. Our expert panel will discuss, debate and break down this complexity and get down to the real cyber challenges facing the smart cities of today and tomorrow.
