KEYNOTE 2: Building High-Performance Security Research Teams
Date: 16th Oct – WednesdayTime: 09:15-10:00Location: Ballroom A
Security engineering work is challenging. There is a lot of attention (and recognition) on the offensive side (finding and exploiting vulnerabilities, demonstrating bypasses of protections, etc) and much less on the daily-day (even though one could easily argue it is the most important part of the overall equation). Most importantly, different companies struggle in finding the balance between the two areas (offense and defense) and building the appropriately sized and focused teams. This talk tries to help by giving insights in forming (and keeping) effective security research teams, based on the experiences of the speaker with large, medium-sized and small corporations. The lessons apply specifically to security research teams (involved both offensive and defensive topics), but hopefully are also useful for other engineering teams working in challenging topics.
